Phillip Schofield has said he has "lost everything" following his affair with a younger male colleague during his time on This Morning. The 61 year old presenter makes the claims In a new interview with the BBC's Amol Rajam, released at 6am this morning, Friday 2 June, saying that his "career is over". "I am done" he said.
"I have to talk about television in the past tense, which breaks my heart." He shook his head and said "no" when asked if he'd been "flirting" with the young man when he asked to work on This Morning and again when asked if it was "sexual" in the early days. Phillip went on to say that the man was 20 years old when they began any kind of sexual relationship.
The jaw-dropping new interview follows weeks of intense scrutiny surrounding Phillip, which saw him quit This Morning and admit to having an affair with a much younger male colleague on the show, whilst still being married to his wife, Stephanie Lowe. Phillip's previous unshakable role as king of daytime TV came to an end on Friday last week as he resigned completely from ITV, and was subsequently dropped by his management of 35 years, YMU, as well as multiple brands that have wiped him from their advertising. This Morning was dogged by rumours of a "feud" between Philip and his former co-presenter and once-close pal, Holly Willoughby a few weeks ago, and the pair put on a brave face and carried on presenting together, but there were calls for Phillip to quit.
He did so on May 20, as he tellingly said "I understand that ITV have decided the current situation can't go on," whilst saying that he was "stepping down". His full statement read: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning.
