‘Pennyworth’ Canceled At HBO Max After Three Seasons

Disney+ has canceled the John Stamos-led sports comedy-drama Big Shot, as well as The Mighty Ducks: Changers, both after two seasons, Deadline has confirmed.

BreAnna Bell “Blood & Treasure” won’t be returning for a third season at CBS or Paramount+, Variety has confirmed. The action-adventure drama followed an antiquities expert Danny McNamara and a cunning art thief Lexi Vaziriwho teamed up to catch a cold-blooded terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure. “When terrorist Karim Farouk absconds with a priceless artifact and kidnaps Danny’s mentor Dr. Anna Castillo, Danny recruits Lexi to help him bring Farouk to justice and rescue Anna. As they chase down Farouk, they encounter unscrupulous individuals who may either be useful allies or dangerous enemies, including Aiden Shaw, an arms dealer who acts solely in his self-interest, and Simon Hardwick, an expert at procuring pilfered artifacts,” reads the official series description.

Comedian Marlon Wayans’ third comedy special for HBO Max, “Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me” will address “the slap” of Chris Rock by Will Smith that took place at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony. The hourlong performance was filmed at the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta. It will debut March 2 on the streamer.After recounting what happened at the 2022 Oscars, Wayans jokes, “That had nothing to do Will, l nothing to do with Jadam nothing do with Chris.

The teaser trailer for Elizabeth Olsen‘s upcoming HBO Max limited series has been released.

The seven-episode HBO Max Original limited series Love & Death has released its official teaser and set an April 27 launch date.

Once upon a time, you’ll remember that filmmaker J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot productions signed a massive deal with Warner Media, reportedly worth over $500 million (though later reports said closer to $200 million) to create content for Warner Media, HBO, and HBO Max.

Rachel Hilson will star alongside Josh Holloway in J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan’s period drama Duster as HBO Max has finally handed the project an official series order.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter HBO Max has ordered the drama series “Duster” from J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan with Josh Holloway and Rachel Hilson set to star. The eight-episode series is set in 1972. Per the official logline, “the first Black female FBI agent (Hilson) heads to the Southwest and recruits a gutsy getaway driver (Holloway) in a bold effort to take down a growing crime syndicate.” “‘Duster’ is an amalgam of all my favorite things – high octane storytelling with deep characters and so much heart,” Morgan said. “It’s a dream project and I’m supremely grateful to all the folks at Warner Bros. and HBO Max for believing in this show. And I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime than J.J. to build this incredible world.”

“Love & Death” is the second project in a year to focus on Candy Montgomery, a killer accused of murdering Betty Gore, the wife of Allan Gore, with whom she had an extramarital affair. Montgomery was portrayed by Jessica Biel in the Hulu series titled “Candy,” which saw Melanie Lynskey and Pablo Schreiber play Betty and Allan Gore, respectively.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “The Penguin” series at HBO Max has added Rhenzy Feliz to its cast, Variety has learned. Feliz joins previously announced series stars Colin Farrell, who will reprise the role of Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot from “The Batman,” as well as Cristin Milioti. Details on Feliz’s character are being kept under wraps. The eight-episode series is said to continue the story of the film. It is believed to take place in the immediate aftermath of the events of “The Batman.” Milioti will star as Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Gotham mob boss Carmine Falcone. The role means Feliz has now held roles in both the Marvel and DC Universes. He previously starred in the Marvel series “The Runaways,” which aired for three seasons on Hulu. He also recently lent his voice to the hit Disney animated film “Encanto.” His other TV credits include “American Horror Stories” and “Teen Wolf,” while his other film credits include the George Clooney directorial effort “The Tender Bar.”

J. Kim Murphy “The Penguin” continues to expand its ensemble, as the DC limited series has added Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Deirdre O’Connell to its cast. Character details for the three actors remain under wraps. Kelly is best known for his roles in Netflix’s “House of Cards” and Amazon’s “Jack Ryan.” Aghdashloo earned critical acclaim for her performance in 2003’s “House of Sand and Fog” and starred in the Syfy series “The Expanse.” O’Connell won a Tony award last year for her performance in “Dana H.” and has appeared in numerous films and series since her first credits in the 1980s. The eight-episode limited series stars Colin Farrell, reprising his role as the eponymous comic book villain after first appearing in last year’s DC Studios feature “The Batman.” Variety exclusively reported that Farrell had signed on to star in a Penguin series in December 2021, with HBO Max officially ordering it in March 2022. The cast also includes Cristin Milioti and Rhenzy Feliz.

Former Marvel star Rhenzy Feliz is jumping to DC. Feliz, who headlined Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu, has been cast as a lead opposite Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti in the Max original series The Penguin (working title) from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios.

Armando Iannucci’s space comedy Avenue 5 has been officially canceled by HBO.

Jennifer O’Connell and Rebecca Quinn, who previously oversaw unscripted content at HBO Max, are moving into the production business.

In a change of strategy, Warner Bros Discovery has ditched plans to merge streaming services HBO Max and Discovery+, according to the Wall Street Journal.

FX is not proceeding with a second season of Kindred, its drama series based on Octavia E. Butler’s novel, which ran exclusively on Hulu. The news comes a month and a half after the eight-episode first season was released as a binge drop Dec. 13. Launching to largely positive reviews, Kindred has not been able to create buzz the way fellow new 2022 FX scripted series The Bear has done.
