It's not long now until Starz hit fantasy series Outlander will be back on screens with its highly anticipated sixth season.
The next instalment of the show is set to differ from the books slightly but the changes have been given the stamp of approval from Outlander author Diana Gabaldon.
Diana gave the new season a glowing review during a promotion for her latest project, Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone, which is the tenth Outlander story.
She also revealed she had written a script for programme makers, which was scrapped and pushed back for season seven.
The author said last November, during a Penguin Random House event for the new book: “The first episode is absolutely spectacular. It's wonderful.
“They're all good. As a matter of fact, this is the first season where I have not had a single episode that I found less likeable.
“They always do a good job; it's just which direction they've chosen to head in. Anyway, the season is extremely good throughout.
“I did in fact, write a script for season six, but that was before they decided to truncate season six and move the last four episodes into season seven."
The show is the on-screen adaptation of Diana's best selling novels and while previous runs have followed the events of the book, season six will be different.
The author initially teased fans that “a number of things happen” in upcoming episodes but, as we reported last year, lifted the lid and disclosed that some will be centred on specific characters.
Thankfully for viewers, the new season will have eight episodes but will remain the shortest season in the franchise due to production difficulties with the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing rules.
