A 17th century pub in Bury has gone on sale with an eye-watering price tag of £1 million. The Church Inn, in Birtle, understood to be one of the oldest in Greater Manchester, comes with four acres of stunning land, gardens and car parking.
The inn, located on Castle Hill Road, offers southerly views of Manchester's skyline and Cheshire and was previously renovated in the 1970s to provide a restaurant, kitchen and outside seating area for up to 100 guests.
The pub closed down permanently during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the current owners now looking to retire. Estate agents Pearson Ferrier say there is 'great potential' to reopen the pub and restaurant.

The inn offers a bar and restaurant area that need 'little work' with extensive car parking and ample space for further development opportunities. The accommodation for owners comprises of two bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and also a bathroom.
Pearson Ferrier, who have listed the pub with a price tag of around £1 million said: "A 17th century Freehold inn located in the village of Birtle surrounded by approximately four acres of grazing land, gardens and car parking, with panoramic southerly views towards the skyline of Manchester and the Cheshire plains beyond.
"We understand The Church Inn is one of the oldest pubs in the region and during 1970s was extended to provide approximately 100 cover restaurant, kitchen, preparation room and outside seating area. The Inn and restaurant have traded successfully over the last five decades but during the pandemic was forced to close and the current owners are now looking to retire.
