A mum has blasted a series of "terrible" school meals that leave her son coming home hungry every day. The woman claims children at the secondary school are only offered a bottle of water to drink with their meal.
After the mother's recent complaints, Royds Hall in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, has hit back, stating their food is nutritious and are eaten by staff as well as pupils. However, the unnamed mum begged to differ, claiming the establishment has "gone downhill".

The woman blames the school recently moving to a cheaper food service as the root of the issue. She claims others have raised similar concerns about the dining experience at the school.
The mother added: "I just wanted to let everyone know that the meals they are giving our children are terrible. Some children are going to school for that one meal of the day but don't want to speak out."
A spokesperson for Royds Hall, in Paddock, says pupils made their own selection of food from a range of hot and cold main and side dishes, alongside sandwiches and jacket potatoes. They said: "We take our responsibility to provide nutritious food very seriously.
"We check the standards frequently and listen carefully to any concerns raised by pupils, staff or parents. The feedback so far this year has been positive. Our catering service offers a range of nutritious food.
