Fans of the cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch have been sharing their top tips for banishing stubborn stains, such as blood, from your bedsheets.
Cleaning your sheets is always an annoying task, but when stains appear that are difficult to get rid of, it makes the whole process even more tedious.
But there's no need to throw your bedding away and fork out for a new set, as it turns out there's a simple way to remove stains using a common and cheap household staple.
The Mirror reports in a post on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook, one woman asked for help removing stains from her bedsheets
People in the group were quick to come to her aid, telling her that all she needs to do is dissolve some salt in cold water and soak the sheets in the mixture.
One person said: "Soak in cold water and lots of salt."
While another added: "Soak them in cold water with salt, my mum always did [this] and it works."
However, one thing that should be avoided at all costs is using hot water to clean the stains, as it could make them even harder to remove.
Someone explained: "Soak in cold salty water before washing. Hot water will set the stain."
A container of basic table salt costs as little as 65p from Asda, making it the perfect tip for anyone on a budget.
Another common tip was to wash the sheets at a low temperature once they've been steeped in the salt water mixture, which will work to remove the stains but without being too hot and setting them again.
As well as using salt, there are plenty of other ingredients that can be used to tackle bloodstains on bedsheets. According to the cleaning fans, milk, washing up liquid and detergent are all effective - but they should all be used with cold water as well.
