It has been too long for Manchester United since their last away victory at Liverpool.
United have not won at Anfield since 2016 but Sunday represents an opportunity to end that run. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, away wins at their arch enemy were a fairly regular occurrence. Between November 2003 and January 2016, United won seven of their 14 trips to the red side of Merseyside.
United and Erik ten Hag will hope to rekindle that form having lost three of their six visits since last tasting victory. The other three all ended in 0-0 draws with the man between the sticks for United, David de Gea, keeping those clean sheets. The Spaniard is also the only survivor from that 2016 XI likely to feature this weekend.

The 32-year-old has been a constant figure through good and bad in recent years, but the fact he still remains the club's number one shows how important he is to Erik ten Hag. There were rumours the Spaniard might be on his way out in the summer given the style of play the Dutchman likes to impart but he's instead been an ever-present in the Premier League this season.
His shot-stopping is still among the very best and while question marks remain regarding his kicking, he has been on the stars of the season for United in a side that boasts one of the better defensive records in the division. In 2016 he was named man of the match at Anfield and will once again be a key figure this weekend.
