Man confirmed dead after 'massive' emergency services presence at Portland Basin

Police have confirmed that a man has sadly died following a large emergency services presence in Tameside yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were scrambled to Portland Basin on Lower Alma Street, Dukinfield at around 5:30pm yesterday (Tuesday February 21) following a report for concern for welfare for a man. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say enquiries are ongoing, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Eyewitnesses from the scene told the Manchester Evening News they saw a large emergency services presence at Portland Basin at around 6pm yesterday evening. The exact nature of the man's death has not been confirmed.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called around 5.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 21 November) to a report of a concern for welfare on Lower Alma Street, Dukinfield.
"Emergency services attended and man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death."
