Manchester City have been named the most valuable football brand in the world worth a whopping £1.3bn.
According to analysis by Brand Finance, the Blues' worth rose by 15 per cent this year matching what has been a phenomenal season on the pitch. With the Premier League and FA Cup in the bag, City are aiming for a treble this weekend when they face Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
City conquered Real Madrid in the semi-finals and replaced them at the top of the rankings as their brand value dropped by three per cent to £1.26bn. Discussing what these findings mean, head of sports services at Brand Finance Hugo Hensley explained: "Manchester City has achieved an extraordinary feat by surpassing Real Madrid to become the champion of football club brands.
"For a decade now, the City team has exerted its dominance in English football, including securing four Premier League titles in the past five seasons. However, the club’s performance in this year’s ranking highlights that Manchester City are performing off the pitch in terms of building a strong brand and attracting fans and sponsors, and setting the stage for what should be an iconic 2023 Champions League final against Inter Milan."

While they may not be the most valuable brand, further analysis has shown Real Madrid remains the 'strongest brand' in football with more people likely to rate them as the 'best football club in the world.' Away from City and Real, United have enjoyed a rise in the rankings.
Their value has soared by 11 per cent this season to £1.17bn. This has taken them above rivals Liverpool whose brand value has only risen by nine per cent.
