The Pretty Woman star, 73, had been celebrating Alejandra's 40th birthday near Nuevo Vallarta, when the celebrations took a turn for the worst and he was rushed into hospital.TMZ have reported that the actor is recovering after he caught a case of pneumonia while holidaying with his family.The outlet have revealed that Richard developed a "bad cough" before his trip, and that it worsened during his time abroad, causing him to seek treatment in hospital.

The 73-year-old actor fell ill while on a trip this week with his wife Alejandra Silva and their children to celebrate her 40th birthday, TMZ reported on Saturday.  Prior to leaving for their vacation, Gere developed a bad cough that worsened while he was in Mexico, according to the outlet.
