Love Island viewers slam final after it was 'ruined' by 'relentless' weather

Love Island viewers were left unimpressed with parts of the show’s highly anticipated final as the cameras and contestants struggled to put up with the villa’s windy weather. Last night, March 13, saw Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrianan crowned as the winners, beating fellow couples Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall, Samie Elishi and Tom Clare, and Shaq Muhammad and Tanya Manhenga. Throughout the series, which was filmed in South Africa, the villa and contestants battled against the elements and faced windy weather conditions – including last night.
In light of the unagreeable weather, some fans questioned if the show’s producers had done enough to ensure the broadcast went smoothly. "Could they not have put up a few wind breakers?" questioned one viewer. Noting the camera’s blowing in the wind, someone else wrote: “The camera man is struggling with the wind”.
Echoing similar sentiments, a third added: “Oh camera man, the wind is blowing him”. Dozens of others also spoke about the chaotic weather conditions. “The South African wind is RELENTLESS,” penned one fan, as another said: “These lot are fighting for their lives against the wind”.
“This South African wind is serious,” said someone else, as another agreed, writing: “Who else can almost feel the wind through the screen?” Speaking about the fact that the winds were an ongoing issue throughout the series, someone else suggested the producers pick another location for the next winter series. Kai and Sanam didn’t let the weather ruin their evening though, as the pair celebrated their win together.
