The Cure have released a 1990 demo of ‘Cut’ from their forthcoming 30th anniversary reissue of ‘Wish’ – listen below.Announced last month, the special deluxe edition of the band’s ninth studio album will arrive on October 7 via UMC/Fiction/Polydor.It’ll include 24 previously-unreleased tracks – including demos, instrumentals and rare 12″ mixes – as well as four songs that will be coming to CD and digital platforms for the first time.Having already previewed the collection with ‘Uyea Sound’ from the 1993 ‘Lost Wishes’ cassette, Robert Smith and co. have today (August 26) shared ‘Cut (1990 Demo)’ on streaming platforms.It was recorded at Farmyard Studios in the Cotswoldsduring the ‘Wish’ demo sessions.

Rina Sawayama has shared ‘Phantom’, another cut from her forthcoming album ‘Hold The Girl’ which is released next month.‘Phantom’ is a pop ballad about Sawayama reassessing her needs versus other people’s. It follows on from last month’s ‘Hold The Girl‘ as well as ‘This Hell’ and ‘Catch Me In The Air’ which were shared earlier this year.Speaking about her new song, Sawayama said: “I realised as an adult that I have spent my whole life pleasing other people and not realising it – constantly pushing my boundaries and not realising the difference between what I wanted to do and what other people wanted from me.

Yet another comedian has sued US streaming service Pandora over allegations it failed to fully license his comedy routines. This time its George Lopez going legal, accusing Pandora of infringing his copyrights.There have been a flurry of lawsuits of this kind against Pandora this year, all of them making pretty much the same claims – basically that while Pandora secured the rights to stream recordings of each comedian’s performances, they failed to get permission to stream the routines contained within those recordings, what in legal terms would be considered the ‘literary works’.In music, of course, streaming services like Pandora secure two sets of licences, one from the record industry covering recording rights, and then another set from the music publishing sector covering the separate song rights.However, with spoken word content, generally only licences covering the recording rights have been sought.
