Jamie Carragher reckons Manchester United were reminded of how important Casemiro is to their side amid his uncharacteristic struggles during the 7-0 demolition against Liverpool at Anfield.
Having improved United no end since his £60million summer move, Casemiro was well below par when Erik ten Hag and his players made the short trip across the M62 on Sunday afternoon. However, the midfielder was far from alone in that respect as the wheels came off upon the restart following an even first 45 minutes.
Citing previous defeats on the road to Manchester City and Arsenal, when Casemiro played 31 minutes at the death and was suspended respectively, Liverpool hero Carragher pinpointed what the Brazilian colossus gives teammates with his usually robust displays in the engine room.

However, the Casemiro who has earned rave reviews for his impact on United this season was nowhere to be seen on Sunday. Carragher detailed his thoughts in the Sky Sports studio.
He said: "This has been one of the best players of the season. But what this [under-par display] shows us is how important Casemiro is to Manchester United. Not playing away at Manchester City, they concede six. Not playing away at Arsenal, conceding three and getting battered.
"Basically, him not being at the races at Anfield and Manchester United concede seven. So what I am actually showing here... yes, it is a negative piece, but it shows how important Casemiro is for Manchester United when he is on his game. But he was no way near it, he was miles off it."
