Jacob Tremblay is opening up about the criticism over Flounder in the live action The Little Mermaid movie.

Speaking to People at the premiere of the film in Los Angeles this week, Jacob spoke about the backlash.
“I was shown the design when I went in for the audition and I saw the movie last night and, I have to say that I think it really, really worked,” he shared. “I think that they were geniuses and they knew exactly what they were doing.”
Jacob added that he thinks “it works out perfectly. I think it matches everything. So if it was different, I don’t think it would really work.”
Critics of the movie have called out the fish and how it looks a little too real compared to the animated version, which was depicted as a bright yellow fish with blue stripes.
The Little Mermaid is out in theaters on May 26.
