This Morning and ITV bosses have reportedly called a "crisis meeting" to discuss how to proceed following Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's return to the show today (Monday 15 May). The once dynamic duo, who have worked together presenting the daytime TV show for 14 years, have been rocked by recent claims their working relationship and close friendship is in "tatters". Phillip, 61, addressed the constant speculation in a recent statement to The Sun, in which he said things "haven’t been easy" for both him and Holly, 42, in recent weeks.
However, he added that the latter is his "rock" and that they are "the best of friends". Phillip told The Sun: "The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us. As I have said before, Holly is my rock." He continued: "We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.
Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her." Elsewhere, Holly is yet to comment on the reports and appears to have been focusing her attention on her family. Holly and Phillip, who are normally dodging fits of laughter and hilarity on the ITV show, instead opted to maintain a cool professionalism during their first show back on Monday, and chose not to address their alleged "feud".
And now, MailOnline has claimed that bosses behind the scenes at ITV are desperately trying to find a solution going forward. "Social media is used as a barometer to see what the public think," a source told the publication. "Those in charge were left under no illusion that it was a total disaster.
