Kate McKinnon is ready to go cosmic. The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member is set to star in Searchlight’s “In the Blink of an Eye,” a sci-fi epic from “WALL•E” director Andrew Stanton, TheWrap has confirmed. The script, which finished in the top 25 of the 2016 Black List, was written by Colby Day. Back then, the project was described as exploring “the entire history of the universe and our species through three interwoven storylines that question the very nature of life, love, mortality, where we’ve been, and where we’re going; the past, present, and future of the human race.” Other projects that were in that list includes Liz Hannah’s “The Post,” made by Steven Spielberg; “O2,” made as “Oxygen” by French filmmaker Alexandre Aja for Netflix; and “Free Guy,” made with Ryan Reynolds. While details are being kept under wraps, the original script followed characters in three different time periods – a family of Neanderthals., a woman in modern day and a genetically augmented character in the distant future.

Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton battle for spotlight: Experts say 'couture-clad' duchess not relatable like Kate

Prince Harry's wife made a statement in Los Angeles recently wearing an understated, yet expensive, outfit, and some experts say that Meghan Markle's curated closet is not earning her fans in comparison to Kate Middleton's more sustainable wardrobe. The Duchess of Sussex stepped out for lunch at the trendy vegan eatery Gracias Madre wearing one of her signature monochrome ensembles. The all-black outfit, which included a Max Mara cashmere coat, Valentino mules, a Chanel purse and Princess Diana's Cartier watch, looked simple and sleek, but set Markle back more than $11,000.  The former "Suits" star's penchant for expensive fashion is a drastic turn from Middleton's take on what-to-wear when stepping out of Buckingham Palace.

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Will Have ‘A Lot More Infected,’ Creators Address Complaints About Lack of Action

Jordan Moreau SPOILER ALERT: This interview contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale of “The Last of Us,” now streaming on HBO Max. For a show about a post-apocalyptic world torn apart by a deadly fungus that creates zombie-like creatures, there weren’t a whole lot of zombies in the final episodes of “The Last of Us.” Series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have seen the complaints about the infrequent zombie mayhem in the HBO drama series, but fans can rest assured that Season 2 will have “a lot more infected.” “Ultimately, we generally stressed the power of relationships and trying to find significance within moments of action,” Mazin told reporters during a virtual press conference for “The Last of Us” last week. “And so there may be less action than some people wanted because we couldn’t necessarily find significance for quite a bit of it, or [there was] concern that it would be repetitive. After all, you’re not playing it, you’re watching it. And although a lot of people do like to watch gameplay, it needs to be a little more focused and purposeful when we’re putting it on TV.”

Steven Spielberg Rails Against Antisemitism: It’s ‘Standing Proud With Hands on Hips Like Hitler and Mussolini’

Ellise Shafer Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg stopped by “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Thursday night to discuss his best picture-nominated film “The Fabelmans,” but also to deliver a message against antisemitism. In “The Fabelmans,” a semi-autobiographical movie based on Spielberg’s childhood, Sammy Fabelman (Gabriel LaBelle) is the subject of antisemitic abuse by his school bullies. After discussing the film, Colbert asked Spielberg if he has found the rise of antisemitism in the U.S. and around the world surprising. “I find it very, very surprising,” Spielberg responded. “Antisemitism has always been there, it’s either been just around the corner and slightly out of sight but always lurking, or it has been much more overt like in Germany in the ’30s. But not since Germany in the ’30s have I witnessed antisemitism no longer lurking, but standing proud with hands on hips like Hitler and Mussolini, kind of daring us to defy it. I’ve never experienced this in my entire life, especially in this country.”
