‘Starfield’ Direct shows the return of ‘Oblivion”s unsettling Adoring Fan

Starfield Direct (June 11) treated sci-fi fans to its sparkly settings, customisable spaceships and character creation, it also saw the return of one of The Elder Scrolls’ most aggravating characters.Traits, which are an optional aspect, alter how the game reacts to the player’s character. For example, the Freestar Collective Settler trait allies the player with that faction and will allow for greater faction rewards, however, crime bounties towards other factions are significantly increased. However, Hero Worshiped means that a blond citizen will appear randomly and fawn over the character — seemingly never tiring, requiring food or water, or running out of things to say.You can see it in action through the timestamped video below. As spotted in the footage, there’s no doubting it: that NPC is another iteration of the Adoring Fan that appeared in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.

How the ‘Interview With the Vampire’ Makeup and Costume Team Created ‘Beautiful’ Vampires and ‘Elegant Bloodletting’

Hunter Ingram The first season of AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire” builds a textured, vibrant world, only to watchit burn and bleed. Anne Rice’s beloved story of long-dead vampire Lestat (Sam Reid) and his latest creation, Louis (Jacob Anderson), chronicles a relationship baptized in blood, fueled by passion and gutted by betrayal. Thanks to the series’ crafts teams, Louis and Lestat’s bond lives and dies (and lives again) according to a visually cohesive language that congeals around one thing — color. Production designer Mara LePereSchloop and costume designer Carol Cutshall spent days with fabrics in hand, curating the color palette for the series, which shifts Rice’s 19th-century New Orleans story to the early 20th century and the city’s redlight district Storyville.

‘Doctor Who’ Star Catherine Tate Swaps the Tardis for Tiaras as Disgraced Royal in New BBC Comedy ‘Queen of Oz’

K.J. Yossman She’s perhaps best known for her turn as David Tennant’s companion Donna in “Doctor Who” (a role she’ll reprise on screen this fall) but, for her latest project, Catherine Tate has swapped the Tardis for tiaras. Titled “Queen of Oz,” the new BBC comedy sees Tate play a disgraced British princess who is sent Down Under after screwing up one too many royal engagements. In the show, Tate plays Princess Georgiana who, after yet another public catastrophe (involving a school visit and plenty of alcohol-induced vomit), is banished to Australia. Tate says she was attracted by the “fish out of water” concept but, despite many royal-related headlines in recent years, is keen to point out that no real royals inspired Georgiana’s character. “I wasn’t thinking of anyone, because it’s nice to create something from scratch,” says the comedian, who co-wrote and stars in the series.

Why Lenny Bruce's Death Wasn't Part of 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Final Season (Exclusive)

While drew plenty of inspiration from real-life celebrities of the 1960s over the course of its five-season run, none were more central to the journey of Rachel Brosnahan's titular comedienne than Lenny Bruce, played by Luke Kirby. While only appearing in a few episodes per season, Kirby's Lenny had a profound impact on Midge as she traversed the grueling world of stand-up comedy. Whether they were sharing the backseat of a police car after being arrested or sharing the stage at The Gaslight, Lenny was a touchstone to the industry for Midge and a constant cheerleader if ever she started to doubt her talents. With 's series finale debuting on Friday — and the use of flash-forwards employed throughout the final season — many wondered how, or even if, the show would address the real-life fate of Bruce, who died of a drug overdose in 1966.The finale kicks off with Lenny onstage in 1965 San Francisco, a recreation of one of the final shows of the real-life comic's career.

It was early on in production for the first season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and she was terrified. “I remember turning to Alex [Borstein, who plays Maisel’s no-nonsense manager Susie Myerson] and going, ‘Please don’t let me suck,’” Brosnahan tells Variety. “’If you see something, say something; like, please, any advice at all, I’ll take it.’ She looked at me and said, ‘I can’t help you. Take up your space, and ask for what you need. And bring this character into the world. Nobody knows who she is but you.’”

Sliding Doors behind the scenes secrets as iconic film turns 25

Sliding Doors explores the consequences that lie behind split second decisions, and the concept proved to be a hit with audiences even if critics met its release with mixed reviews. The film, which came out in 1998, starred a then 24 year old Gwyneth Paltrow, who recently won a ski crash lawsuit, and John Hannah, who had shot to fame a few years earlier when he scored a part in Hugh Grant’s hit romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral.Their characters meet by chance on the London Underground, and the film explores two alternate realities where Gwyneth’s character Helen either makes or misses her tube train. The film is about to turn 25 and, over the years, a few of the film’s stars and production team have opened up about some of the on-set secrets. Director Peter Howitt shared that he had clashed with Gwyneth Paltrow behind the scenes, and that she had once told him to “just let it go, Pete” when he insisted on shooting and reshooting a handful of scenes.

Lenny Kaye on How the Original ‘Nuggets’ Compilation Changed Rock — and Reviving That ’60s Garage Spirit With an L.A. Tribute Concert

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic There has never been a compilation album in the history of rock as influential as “Nuggets,” a 1972 double-LP that revived a period and style that was seen as having ended about five years before. It was nostalgia of a sort for the very recent past — as opposed to the very distant past that’s now being celebrated with fondness as “Nuggets” itself surpasses the half-century, arguably no less central to a certain rock ‘n’ roll ethos than ever. Lenny Kaye, now best known as the guitarist for Patti Smith’s band, but then highly regarded as a rock critic, compiled the original “Nuggets” for Elektra and may have saved an early wave of garage-rock for the ages … although some would give the collection even more credit, for helping invent, or at least bring into focus, the burgeoning punk-rock movement in the 1970s.
