Pupils and staff at Deans Community High School are celebrating a glowing report card.
Education Scotland inspectors recently visited the Livingston school and later highlighted a number of achievements.
particularly in the inspectors’ evaluation of very good for leadership of change, very good for ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion.
During the visit, inspectors talked to parents/carers and young people and worked closely with the head teacher and staff.
Inspectors highlighted a number of positives following their visit including the leadership of the schools headteacher, supported ably by the senior management team.
The approach of staff in supporting young people’s wellbeing was also highlighted in addition to the emerging work of the Skills Academy programme, which is designed to encourage pupils to reflect on their skillset and what they might require for the world of work.
Inspectors signed off their report stating that they were confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and they identified a couple of points for improvement which they discussed with the schools head teacher.
Deans Community High School headteacher, Pauline Allison said: “I am delighted that Education Scotland have recognised the many strengths of our school and that all staff and partners have young people’s wellbeing at the heart of the work we do together.
“As headteacher, I am immensely proud of how well our staff, parents and students work together and that all are fully committed to continue on our improvement journey, with the aim of our learners achieving the very best possible outcomes.”
