An abandoned caravan park on the banks of the picturesque River Don in Aberdeen has been left in ruins, with pictures showing the once popular housing option now lying deserted.
The Granite City's Persley Park Caravan Park might have been called a 'trailer park' in some parts of America as it was used as housing rather than as a holiday camp.
Locals who lived near the site for years are unsure when it was first abandoned.
Situated near Persley Bridge in the Granite City, the now abandoned site is near the centre of a busy commuter route in Europe's oil capital.
Pictures taken by Aberdeen Live show windows of many of the caravans have been smashed, and in some cases the doors have been ripped from the hinges. They also appear to show signs of vandalism, with paint peeling off some of the homes, while others looks damaged by weather.
Like an abandoned gold town from the old West, some of the units still have everyday household items inside with fridge doors left open, occasional magazines and newspapers on tables and ironing boards stacked against doors.
The current ownership of the park, and the caravans inside, is a mystery - with online sales details showing none of the units have been sold in recent years.
Located near the busy Persley Bridge, the park has long been a sight seen by commuters from the busy area.
Dyce, Bucksburn and Danestone councillor Barney Crockett said the static homes had initially been installed to provide emergency housing but had long lain empty.
He said: "It is something I often wonder about when I see it - about what can come next for the site. I knew people who had lived there in the past and it seemed like they were nice homes. It is a bit of a shame what has happened to it."
