Netflix Password Crackdown Drives U.S. Sign-Ups to Highest Levels in at Least Four Years: Researcher

Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor At least initially, Netflix’s broad password crackdown appears to be producing the streamer’s desired results in converting freeloaders into paying customers in the U.S., according to early data from research company Antenna. On May 23, Netflix began notifying U.S. customers that users on their accounts who live outside their households would need to be added as an “extra member” (or get their own subscriptions). Since then, Netflix has had the four single largest days of U.S. user sign-ups since January 2019, when Antenna first began tracking the metric. Based on the most current Antenna data available, Netflix saw average daily sign-ups reached 73,000 from May 25-28, a 102% increase from the prior 60-day average. That was more than the spikes in subscriber sign-ups Antenna recorded during the initial U.S. COVID-19 lockdowns in March and April 2020.

Inside Max’s Luxe ‘Sex and the City’ Experience, Where Fans Can Browse Carrie’s Closet and Break Up on a Post-It Note

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer When Variety broke the news that Kim Cattrall will reprise her iconic role as Samantha Jones for a cameo in the Season 2 finale of “And Just Like That,” I couldn’t help but wonder… is there anything that could thrill a “Sex and the City” fan more? The answer is yes: the HBO show’s 25th anniversary experience in New York City, as put on by Max, to celebrate Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha and — possibly most important — all of their stunning clothes. Formally titled “And Just Like That…It’s Been 25 Years, A Sex and the City Experience,” the event will be open June 8-June 11, but Variety and other members of the press were let into Carrie’s closet early Thursday to explore.

Lorna Courtney Makes ‘& Juliet’ The Sun Of Broadway For Pop Fans And Perfectly Imperfect Girls Everywhere – Tony Award Watch Q&A

Lorna Courtney was barely out of the University of Michigan when Broadway first came calling. A native New Yorker – Queens, to be exact – and graduate of Manhattan’s performing arts LaGuardia High School, Courtney was a standby in Dear Evan Hansen in 2019 and 2020 before being cast in director Ivo van Hove’s boldly reimagined West Side Story, a production that did away with the iconic Jerome Robbins in favor of the riskier, more avant-garde stylings of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

Hayley Williams Apologizes for ‘Shaming’ Unruly Fans at Paramore Show: ‘I Abused My Responsibility and My Platform’

Thania Garcia Paramore’s Hayley Williams has expressed regret and apologized for the way she removed two arguing concert-goers from one of the band’s recent shows in a pensive note uploaded to Discord. “I am sorry for whatever shame or embarrassment I may have caused you,” she wrote. Footage of the confrontation at the Madison Square Garden gig showed the spotlighted attendees at a loss for words when William told them they needed “to find somewhere else to take care of that shit because that’s not happening here tonight, this is our house.” Williams has routinely dedicated a portion of the band’s “This is Why” tour stops to encourage fans to be themselves in the safety and comfortability of their shows, and she wasted no time in making a similar statement at the band’s appearance in New York.
