Michelle Rodriguez: Charlize Theron and I Shot Our ‘Fast X’ Fight Scene ‘With No Director… We Don’t Need One, Let’s Do This’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director The official trailer for “Fast X” unveiled the first footage of Jason Momoa and Brie Larson joining the long-running action series, but it was the brutal fight scene between franchise veterans Michelle Rodriguez and Charlize Theron that packed the most punch. The duo go head-to-head in what looks like a fist fight for the ages, and Rodriguez recently told Vanity Fair they filmed it without a director. “Can I just tell you — no pun intended, but Charlize is a monster,” Rodriguez said. “We shot our [‘Fast X’] fight sequence with no director. Bro, like, hands down, drop mic, we nailed it. We were there, we don’t need [a director], let’s do this.”

Keanu Reeves says his last moment of bliss was in bed with girlfriend in rare comment

Keanu Reeves gushed about his girlfriend Alexandra Grant this week, saying his last moment of bliss was with the 49-year-old artist just "smiling and laughing and giggling" in bed.  "A couple of days ago with my honey," the notoriously private "John Wick" actor told People magazine after he was asked about his most recent "moment of bliss." He continued, "We were in bed. We were connected.

Keanu Reeves ‘Cut a Man’s Head Open’ by Mistake During ‘John Wick’ Set Accident: ‘That Really F—ing Sucked’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Keanu Reeves revealed in a new interview with ComicBook.com that he once split open a man’s head during a stunt scene gone wrong while making one of the “John Wick” movies. Reeves has four “John Wick” movies under his belt, and the action franchise has required him to do insane stunts involving speeding cars, nunchucks, swords and more. “Well I mean everyone is pretty tired – but it’s the best kind of tired,” Reeves said when asked about what kind of accidents have taken place on the action-heavy “John Wick” sets. “It’s like you climbed a mountain now you’re resting; like you finished the game and you won.” “So in terms of accidents: I made a mistake once – I cut a gentleman’s head open,” Reeves continued. “So that really fucking sucked – excuse my language. But other than that…oh, one guy got hit by a car. He was in the car, so he had to go to the hospital, but he was okay. All of this to say that you do have to take care. But it’s great that everyone [on set] is watching out for each other.”

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in ‘Shazam 2’ Was Not a Deepfake, Director Says: She ‘Shot in England’ and ‘I Directed Remotely’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” seemingly confused a lot of moviegoers with its surprise cameo featuring the return of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. The character appears as a deus ex machina toward the end of the film, as Wonder Woman arrives on the scene to resurrect Billy Batson/Shazam from death as she is the only person left with godly powers to do so. Some shaky VFX work led to rumors that Gadot’s face was put on another actor’s body using deepfake technology, but “Shazam” director David F. Sandberg says otherwise. “A certain cameo in ‘Shazam! Fury Of the Gods’ had to be shot in England, but I couldn’t go because of a visa issue so I directed remotely,” Sandberg wrote on Twitter while sharing a video of himself remotely directing Gadot’s cameo scene. “It wasn’t a deepfake as some believe.”

Aaron Sorkin Suffered Stroke Last Fall: I Thought ‘I Was Never Going to Be Able to Write Again’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Ahead of the Broadway opening of his new “Camelot” musical adaptation, Aaron Sorkin revealed to the New York Times that he suffered a stroke last November. The medical emergency occurred two months before “Camelot” rehearsals were set to begin and resulted in his blood pressure being so high that “you’re supposed to be dead,” Sorkin said. As reported by The Times: “For about a month afterward, [Sorkin] was slurring words. He had trouble typing; he was discouraged from flying for a few weeks; and until recently, he couldn’t sign his name (he has just discovered, thanks to ‘Camelot’ autograph seekers, that that’s improving). Those issues are now behind him, and the main lingering effect is that he still can’t really taste food.”

Zach Braff Reacts to Critics Turning Against ‘Garden State,’ Plus Manic Pixie Dream Girl Backlash: ‘I Can’t Really Dwell on It’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Zach Braff was the toast of the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, where he emerged as an indie film wunderkind thanks to “Garden State.” The coming-of-age dramedy sold to Fox Searchlight for $5 million, double its production budget, and became a poster child for hip indies of the early aughts thanks to its Grammy-winning soundtrack and quirky characters. Flash forward to 2015, and Vice was celebrating the film’s anniversary with the following headline: “It’s the 10-Year Anniversary of Realizing ‘Garden State’ Sucked.” Time has not been kind to “Garden State.” It’s the kind of film that now elicits groans and eye-rolls since its arty blocking (that wallpaper!) and alt-rock soundtrack have become worn out indie film cliches. Natalie Portman’s character, Sam, is often cited as one of the worst offenders of the “manic pixie dream girl” stereotype, which describes a quirky female character whose main narrative purpose is to save their male counterpart and teach him about the meaning of love and life. Nearly 20 years after the film’s debut, Braff confronted the backlash head on in a new interview with The Independent.

Charna Flam Freddie Prinze Jr. isn’t eager to return to the “Scooby-Doo” franchise. In a recent interview with TooFab, the 47-year-old actor was quick to turn down the prospect of reuniting with his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, as well as Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini for a third film playing Mystery Incorporated. “It wouldn’t be something I would do,” Prinze said. “I have zero interest. I mean, it was tricky. It wouldn’t be for me, man.” The actor clarified that his thoughts on the matter come down to the studio, rather than the project itself. The first “Scooby-Doo” (2002) and its 2004 sequel, “Monsters Unleashed,” were both distributed by Warner Bros.

David Letterman Calls Out Tom Cruise for Skipping the Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel Agrees He ‘Should’ve Been There’: ‘Yeah, Of Course!’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director David Letterman visited “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and had a burning question for the host, who recently earned great reviews for his stint hosting the 2023 Oscars. “Here’s something that’s a little sensitive: Tom Cruise,” Letterman said. “Where was Tom Cruise?” Despite “Top Gun: Maverick” earning six Academy Award nominations and Cruise being a nominee for best picture as one of the film’s producers, the A-list star skipped the 2023 ceremony. Reports surfaced ahead of the show that Cruise was too busy shooting the “Mission: Impossible” sequel in Italy to attend, but the actor popped up in London two days after the Oscars to attend Michael Caine’s 90th birthday party. Cruise also showed up at the Oscars Nominees Luncheon in February.
