Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have been dominating headlines for weeks now since news of their rumoured feud broke, with things coming to a head when the latter stepped down from their long-term hosting gig at This Morning last week. Phillip confirmed that things may be on the rocks between himself and Holly early this month with a bombshell statement which stated that things "haven't been easy" between the pair, but continued to put on a united front with Holly for the show until his exit.
Now, reports claim that the exact date their friendship ended was March 8th this year- and had to do with a frosty instalment of the ITV show on International Women's Day. To mark the occasion, Holly decided that there should be an all-female presenting line-up to mark the occasion, but Phil went "over her head" to show bosses stop that from happening, claims MailOnline columnist Dan Wootton.
"As a result, Holly was only allowed to host the first section of the show surrounded by the show's female production staff, while Phillip was dispatched to a café down the road for a live item," claims the journalist. He describes Holly, who is currently taking an extended half-term break from the show, as being 'livid' at her co-star undermining her, with the episode appearing to mark the beginning of the end for the popular duo.
In the weeks that followed, the once-close pals were said to have been "barely speaking" once the cameras stop rolling as the feud appeared to cut deeper.
