This album is just so much for people who have been oppressed and who have not had easy lives.”She continued: “I think the biggest thing that really drove me to understand more of his life is that my dad, just a few years before he was diagnosed, had worked so hard on himself.

Victoria Justice Celebrates 30th Birthday with New Single, Confirms Debut Album is ‘Definitely’ Happening

Katie Reul editor Feb. 19 marks a celebratory milestone for multi-hyphenate Victoria Justice, and not just because the former “Victorious” actor is turning 30. After a year of promising fans new music, Justice will debut her long-awaited single, “Last Man Standing,” today. “I’m stepping into my 30s in this place of feeling empowered,” Justice tells Variety of timing the release to her birthday. “I feel like this song really captures a lot of that energy, and it’s fun, and it’s kind of sexy, and it’s got these very strong themes of female empowerment, so it just felt like a really good fit.” “Last Man Standing” features intoxicatingly upbeat vocals from Justice set to a breezy, four-chord riff on the acoustic guitar. The performer’s talent is on full display in the song’s chorus, for which she sings in an ethereal high register. Cementing her place in pop iconography, the track is a welcomed follow-up Justice’s previous tracks, like 2021’s “Too F*ckin’ Nice” and 2020’s “Treat Myself.”

New documentary to revisit the week John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosted ‘The Mike Douglas Show’

John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosted The Mike Douglas Show. Titled Daytime Revolution, the documentary was authorised by Ono and Lennon’s son, Sean, and will include archival footage from each of the five episodes co-hosted by the famous couple in 1972. Daytime Revolution was directed by Erik Nelson, and will feature interviews with surviving guests who were interviewed by Lennon and Ono on The Mike Douglas Show, as well as behind-the-scenes stories of the pair’s week-long stint.According to Variety, production has wrapped on Daytime Revolution, with its producers currently seeking a distributor.Across their five-episode run on The Mike Douglas Show, Lennon and Ono discussed then-controversial topics like environmental conservation and police brutality, and interviewed activists like Black Panther chairman Bobby Seale, and lecturer and attorney Ralph Nader.Speaking of Daytime Revolution, Nelson said: “It’s become a cliche that Woodstock was the defining moment of the counterculture, [but] when I watched these broadcasts in their entirety, I realized that, in reality, this week in 1972, when Lennon and Ono essentially hijacked the airwaves and presented the best minds and dreams of their generation to the widest possible mass audience… was as far as the counterculture would ever get.”A release date for Daytime Revolution has not yet been announced.

Capitol Records super happy with Sam Smith’s satanism but still shelving Morrissey’s new album, says Morrissey

Morrissey has had another dig at Universal Music’s Capitol Records, which was going to release his new album ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’ and then wasn’t.While it’s not clear exactly why Capitol bailed on the Morrissey record – though we can possibly guess – he reckons that if the Universal label can invest time in promoting Sam Smith’s satanism, it should be able to deliver his new album to some streaming platforms.Morrissey announced a deal with Capitol in the US last year which was meant to result in the LA base of the Universal label releasing ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’ this month. That deal overtly excluded the UK though, where – of course – Morrissey is now generally deemed too controversial, or at least too annoying, to want to work with. Plus, more specifically, there had been criticism about the album’s title track and its references to the 2017 bombing of the Manchester ArenaHowever, despite that deal in the US, by November the release of ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’ was on hold.
