Since Holly Willoughby joined the This Morning team back in 2009, she and co-star Phillip Schofield have become known for their close friendship and chemistry on the infamous ITV daytime sofa. In fact, in the past, the presenting duo have enjoyed holidays with one another, sported matching outfits declaring their friendship and have spoken openly about their bond - perhaps most notably when Phil, 61, opened up about his sexuality in 2020 and called Holly his “rock”. However, in recent days the pair’s friendship has been hit by reports of a rumoured rift, with some sources claiming that their relationship is going through a rocky patch.
Despite the reports, the presenters both hosted This Morning on Monday together with no mention of the allegations. So, here’s everything we know about their alleged fallout so far… Last week, reports published by The Sun claimed that Phil and 42 year old Holly were “barely speaking” and that they had “become more distant” in the last 12 months. Just hours after the allegations emerged, a body language expert told MailOnline that they believed the couple's normal synchronicity" was "falling apart" at times as they carried on This Morning presenting duties.
Following the reports, Dancing On Ice presenter Phil released a statement to The Sun in which he discussed their relationship. “The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us,” it read. Phil added: “We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.
