Actress Michelle Collins has returned to EastEnders in the role of Cindy Beale, almost 25 years after she was said to have died in prison whilst giving birth.

EastEnders boss, Chris Clenshaw, has discussed the BBC One soap's explosive twist on Wednesday night, where Rose Knight was actually revealed to be Cindy Beale. Up until now, Cindy, who is also the ex-wife of long running character Ian Beale, had widely been believed to have died in childbirth while serving time in prison, but as it emerged on Wednesday, rumours of Cindy’s death had been greatly exaggerated.

After months of speculation and fan theories, Cindy returns to EastEnders 25 years after she was killed off-screen. Viewers saw her failing to accept a call from George as he attempted to get in contact with missing wife ‘Rose’ confirming Cindy has been living under both names.
