Willie Robertson is remembering those who gave their lives in service to our country. "Memorial Day is one of the closest representations for humanity of what we see in the Gospel, people literally laying down their lives for others," Robertson told Fox News Digital. "Remembering our fallen soldiers helps keep us focused on the important things in this life.Their sacrifice should never be forgotten. "Our freedom was paid for by brave men and women who died for something other than themselves and bigger than themselves. It is rooted in mission, love, and country, which is people.
Which sounds like Jesus’s story as well," he added. Memorial Day offers a chance for the solemn remembrance of those who served our country. During a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Robertson explained why faith plays such a big part of his life, saying "the story of Jesus resonates" with so many people, "because at its heart it's about sacrifice." Robertson and his wife Korie have been open about their strong Christian faith since their days starring on their reality show "Duck Dynasty" on A&E, and have passed down their beliefs to their six kids John Luke, Rebecca, Bella, Rowdy, Willie and Sadie Robertson.
The two recently wrapped production on a movie, "The Blind," which follows Phil Robertson, Willie's father's journey to finding Jesus, and committing himself to a life of faith. In Willie's eyes, this was the moment that defined the rest of his life. "You realize, 'Wow, we're so impacted by our faith … because that could have went either way,'" he shared.
"And had my parents not chosen faith, they would have divorced for sure. I would have grown up in a completely different situation. "There would have been no Duck Commander, which

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large The official 2022-2023 TV season ended on May 24, according to Nielsen and as you may have seen via my annual TV series rankers (which I posted on Monday), we’ve got the wrap on this year’s winners and losers in the good ol’ fashioned linear TV world. Football, “Yellowstone” and procedurals, oh my! But we’re not living in a good ol’ fashioned linear TV world anymore. Television didn’t grind to a halt on May 24, and the Memorial Day weekend gauntlet of finales and premieres (!) was a fine reminder that TV no longer plays by the rules of a Nielsen calendar. Three of the biggest on-screen events of the year all took place on Sunday night: The series finales of HBO’s “Succession” and “Barry,” as well as the mind-blowing Season 2 ender for “Yellowjackets,” which hit Showtime’s linear channel that same evening.
Showing off their love. T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were seen packing on the PDA while enjoying a Memorial Day weekend date in New York City.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Family audiences turned out in force, propelling Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” to the top of the box office over the Memorial Day weekend. The film, a live-action remake of the 1988 animated favorite, earned a splashy $117.5 million over the four-day holiday. It ranks as the fifth largest Memorial Day debut — last year’s “Top Gun: Maverick” set a new record for the holiday with its $160.5 million launch. At one point over the weekend, it looked as if “The Little Mermaid” might even open north of $120 million, but ticket sales flagged slightly. For Disney, the film’s popularity is a testament to its strategy of digging deep into its vaults and rebooting animated titles as live action movies, something it has done successfully with the likes of “Aladdin,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Lion King.” Waiting out on the horizon: Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, the Oscar-winning director of “Summer of Soul,” is helming a remake of “The Aristocats” for Disney.
Rotten Tomatoes. There’s a good chance that “Little Mermaid” can keep legging out even against Sony’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and Paramount’s “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” given the female-majority audience doesn’t have significant overlap with those films.
The Memorial Day holiday might be considered a bank holiday, however, some of us still need to get some shopping done, or at least we want to take advantage of some sales that are going on at our favorite shops.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Thirty five years after the animated story of Ariel, a flame-haired siren of the sea who falls for a prince, charmed audiences, a live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” dominated the Memorial Day weekend box office. The Disney release is on track to debut to a massive $118 million over the four-day holiday, with $96 million of that coming over the weekend. It ranks as the fifth highest Memorial Day opening in history. The film got a lift from many of the same moviegoers who first fell in love with Ariel when she flitted across the screen in 1988, as well as from the generations of fans who weren’t alive when the original movie opened, but who were nevertheless weaned on the classic from its various appearances on DVD, television, and later streaming. The live action “Little Mermaid” (and “live action” is doing a lot of lifting here considering the sheer tonnage of CGI required to bring Ariel’s ocean home to life), was directed by Rob Marshall and stars Halle Bailey as the title character. Melissa McCarthy plays Ursula, the malevolent sea witch who steals Ariel’s voice in return for giving her legs and a chance to canoodle with the dreamy Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King). Javier Badem, Awkwafina and Daveed Diggs round out the ensemble.
