A dog walker who was brutally mauled to death by a pack of eight dogs has been identified. Natasha Johnston, 28, was fatally attacked by the animals while she walked them round a popular beauty spot in Caterham, Surrey, earlier this month, the Mirror reports.
The horrific incident on January 12 is believed to have occurred after one of the pets bit another dog walker before going for the 28-year-old. Natasha was tragically pronounced dead at the scene after suffering fatal injuries and huge blood loss.
Another woman was rushed to hospital to be treated for bites but has now fully recovered. Officers were called out to Gravelly Hill following reports of a savage dog attack where they seized eight dogs that currently remain in police custody.
It's understood that Natasha was walking the pets as a hired dog walker at the time of the incident. One witness said the group of dogs went for her like a "pack of wolves" as police have confirmed that none of the canines involved were banned breeds.
However, it has been reported that one of the dogs was an 11-stone leonberger named Shiva, who previously appeared on a BBC show about problematic puppies. The other pets reportedly seized include two dachshunds, a collie and a cockapoo.
Nobody has been prosecuted over the young woman's death and police announced last week they would be closing the investigation with a file passed on to the coroner.
