Davina McCall shared a sweet tribute to her step-mum on Mother's Day, branding her "amazing" and calling her "my rock". The TV presenter, 55, posted a photograph of her step-mum Gaby and dad Andrew on Instagram to mark the special occasion, and told her fans she is "so grateful" for her step-mum and her grandmother.
"Happy Mother’s Day to my step mum Gaby. I say she’s my step mum because amazing mother figures come in many forms," Davina began.
"I had a crazy, funny, messy, fucked up, loving, loathing relationship with my birth mother (if u relate follow @myhorridparent) and Gaby was my rock." Continuing, the star said: "She and my granny kept me sane. And I am so grateful to both of them for their unwavering love x she’s also my children’s 'Gabba' and they absolutely ADORE her thank you Mumma I love you so much." Davina has previously opened up about her difficult relationship with her birth mother, Florence, who passed away in 2008, branding it "just very sad".
Speaking about her mum on The Jonathan Ross Show, Davina previously said: "She was incapable of mothering, so I always tried to get her to do motherly things. But it never quite happened and it left me yearning for more all the time.
"I was so confused, I didn't know how to be around her but I worshipped her and I know she loved me too but not in a conventional way." Davina's mother struggled with substance abuse issues and shockingly once took cocaine with her daughter, who was just 15 at the time.
