Dancing On Ice shaking up final with new challenge that could crown winner in major twist

Dancing on Ice is set to shake up the usual scheduling for this year’s final as The Vivienne, Joey Essex and Nile Wilson battle it out for the crown. With this year’s finale just days away, the lucky stars are gearing up to take to the ice for the final time and wow judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse.
Each year, the cast puts on a massive spectacle for the nation that includes extra professionals, grand sets and a practically guaranteed good time. But the show will be a little different this year, with ITV bosses planning to blow expectations out of the water with a “super exciting” new number.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Dancing On Ice's Creative Director Dan Whiston dished on the upcoming finale. He revealed that, as usual, the finalists will work with former Olympians Jayne and Christopher to produce a showcase that will include “extra professionals” and “huge production numbers.” He continued: "But there is also a new number that is coming in and I can't give too much away about it but it's super exciting and it will make a difference to the score and it will make a difference to the result.
"Don't want to give away too much, but there's something new in the final to look out for!" Naturally, the finale will also feature the time-honoured tradition of the Bolero, though contestants are able “to put a new flavour to it or a different feel" to Torvill and Dean's famous routine. "But we keep the heart of the Bolero as Bolero, because that's important to us as well,” Dan added.
