Back in 2017, Cheryl and One Direction singer Liam Payne announced that they were expecting a baby together and shortly after welcomed their son Bear.
The pair were completely in love with their son but it seemed their relationship after becoming parents had crumbled and not long after the tot turned one the couple called it quits.
Liam had also left his band and went on a quest to establish himself as a solo artist. At the time, they both made joint statements on their social media announcing the news.
However as time went on, the real reason for their separation was revealed and the Fight for This Love singer confirmed that Liam's work was a big part of it.
Speaking to Sunday Times Magazine, Cheryl said: "So he wanted to settle down and have a family and not do the solo thing. Then we encouraged him to do that. And then it didn't work out."
Liam claimed that Bear's arrival "ruined" their relationship, but for "all the right reasons". He said things started to go wrong when the pressure of fatherhood took him by surprise. Speaking during his documentary Ant Middleton and Liam Payne: Straight Talking, he said: "Becoming a dad at such a young age, it's such a difficult thing," he said in his documentary.
"And I think I built fatherhood up so much in my head that it kind of messed me up to start with. I started in a bad place with it," he continued.
"I think it spooked me out early on, and I was just worried I would not be enough to look after the both of them. They're so important to me - Cheryl as well."
He then said another problem was that he did not "understand" what Cheryl was going through as a brand new mum, writes The Mirror.
