A successful businesswoman who had her life “messed up” by a man who allegedly faked having stage four cancer in a bid to control her was tragically found dead in bed by her dad.
Jennifer Joynt, 36, was found unresponsive when her father forced his way into her home on Merton Crescent in Heaton Moor on February 26, after her family became concerned when they hadn’t heard from her in days.
An inquest into Ms Joynt's death, held at South Manchester Coroner’s Court, heard that the supply chain manager, who was born in Stockport, had experienced problems with her mental health in the past, usually making it through these difficulties with the support of her friends and family. Although there were signs that she was considering suicide, she did not appear to have taken her own life, the inquest heard.

Police found notes addressed to friends and family in notebooks around her room and on her phone, with video messages recorded for her loved ones in the months before her death. Although some of these notes had at least been edited during the last time she used her phone, there was nothing to indicate they were true indications that she intended to take her own life, as she regularly liked to write in order to express her feelings, and similar notes had been written on several other occasions which had not led to her attempting to take her own life.
There was evidence that Ms Joynt had attempted to buy a drug contained in many so called 'suicide kits', which have appeared in several other inquests recently, but police were able to establish that most of the companies she reached out to had declined the sale. There was one purchase attempt
