Barcelona eye move for Man City midfielder and other transfer rumours

Bernardo Silva was linked with a move to Barcelona throughout the summer, but it could be another Manchester City midfielder that the Spanish giants target come the next transfer window if the latest reports are to be believed.
Former Barca midfielder and current head coach Xavi Hernandez is a big admirer of Bernardo, but according to fresh reports he could target City captain Ilkay Gundogan in the January transfer window. Gundogan's City contract expires at the end of the season, and while Pep Guardiola and the club are understood to be keen to extend the German midfielder's stay at the Etihad Stadium, no talks have taken place between the two parties.
Spanish newspaper Sport are reporting that Bernardo is still Barcelona's top target, but that Gundogan is among the other options they are looking at. Certainly, his age - 31 - and contractual situation would make a deal easier to complete. Barcelona are not alone in their interest in Gundogan though; Arsenal are reportedly monitoring his situation, as Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the City skipper.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign young Brazilian defender Robert Renan, a player City have been monitoring for a while now.
City Football Group reportedly held talks with the 19-year-old's agent a few months ago when he visited the UK, but now Goal claim that Arsenal have taken a step forward in their efforts to sign the Corinthians player. The defender is reported to have a £44m release clause in his contract, and that other teams - including Borussia Dortmund - have tried and failed to sign him for far less.
