Asda has announced a major change to its Rewards app with a new feature that will allow shoppers to save more money over a longer period of time.
The supermarket giant has confirmed that members of its loyalty scheme will now have longer to spend the money from their cashpot that has been turned into vouchers.
Asda rewards is the supermarket chain's first ever loyalty scheme and it allows shoppers to earn money into a 'cashpot' after spending money in-store or online.
Over time, the cashpot can be turned into vouchers that shoppers can use on their next visit to the supermarket. However, customers previously only had one month to use their vouchers.
Now, that timeframe has been extended to three months in a move that will allow shoppers to build up their cashpot and have longer to spend the vouchers once they are created.
While customers have longer to use their vouchers, those who began using the app when it was first launched in July last year are being reminded to convert the money they earned in that month to vouchers before the end of January.
When vouchers are due to expire, customers will receive a notification in the app reminding them of the amount that is due to expire from their cashpot each month.
The Asda Rewards app was first launched in late July last year and it made up part of the supermarket's wider range of services to help support customers throughout the cost of living crisis.
Mark Baxter, Asda's Senior Director of Loyalty, said: "We know that many Asda Rewards customers like to save up their Cashpots to spend at special occasions. This change means they now have longer to use their rewards and importantly can build up even larger amounts to use whenever they choose."
