As fun as a day out at the arcade sounds on paper, many of us are familiar with the frustration of trying to repeatedly secure a cuddly toy from the claw machine only to be met with failure every time. The more determined players are often tricked into already paying the entire price of the teddy with the money they've used trying to win it, the Mirror reports.
However, there are some sneaky techniques to improve your odds on the infamous tricky machines without giving them a desperate shake and it's all down to 'timing'. An arcade worker took to TikTok to share the clever 'double tapping' technique which they claim will not always make you win but certainly boosts your chances of claiming the prize.
The employee, who goes by the username @arcadefriends, demonstrated the hack in the video as they said: "Some people don't know the secret about double tapping the claw machine."
They told their followers to observe their hands as they double tapped the grab button. The first tap was used to lower the claw onto the pink teddy bear prize below.
The second was to close the claw around its head. Explaining the logic behind the strategy, they said: "This gives the claw a strong grip and keeps it from rotating too far."
As promised at the end of the instructive video, the TikToker was able to successfully secure the stuffed bear and claimed their prize with the use of the helpful trick.
The clip has now racked in nearly 380k views as social media users were left amazed by the hack with many taking notes for their next trip to the arcade.
One person replied: "BEST TIP! Doesn't guarantee a win, but definitely ups your chances!" Another praised: "That's perfect timing as well!"
