‘Amy And The Orphans’ Film Based On Off-Broadway Hit In Works From Aggregate Films; Jamie Brewer To Reprise Lead Role, With Lindsey Ferrentino Directing

K.J. Yossman U.K. network Channel 4 has commissioned a new documentary from Curious Films about TV host and author Paula Yates, who died following a heroin overdose at the age of 41 in 2000. The two-part doc, titled simply “Paula,” will explore the “life and legacy” of the wildchild presenter, whose relationships with Boomtown Rats’ vocalist Bob Geldof and rockstar Michael Hutchence dominated the headlines in the late 1990s. Yates and Geldof’s daughter, model Peaches Geldof, also died of a heroin overdose at the age of 25 in 2014. The doc promises to “reveal the real Paula Yates behind the tabloid-driven narrative, drawing on an extraordinary set of never-before-heard interviews, the words of some of those who knew her best and a wealth of archive to tell her story in her own words.” Yates was a Channel 4 staple during her prime, fronting shows including “The Tube” and “The Big Breakfast” for which she interviewed stars from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Robbie Williams.

News of his passing was confirmed in a Facebook post by Ady Croasdell of Ace Records’ Kent Records division, a UK label that had been reissuing his recordings. No cause of death was given. “There are confirmed reports that one of the very greatest soul singers of all time, Chuck Jackson, died on February 16th,” Croasdell wrote. “His 60s and 70s recordings are hugely important works, revered as much now as on release…His passing will be deeply felt around the world.”

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch has joked that he wanted to be played by George Clooney over Eddie Marsan in biopic Back To Black.Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the biopic stars Marisa Abela (Industry) as the late singer, alongside Jack O’Connell as Amy’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, Marsan as Mitch, and Lesley Manville as her maternal grandmother.Speaking to The Mail On Sunday about the casting, Mitch said: “I told my friend that Eddie was playing me and he said – excuse my French – ‘Eddie fucking Marsan!
