Allison Janney Signs With CAA

Joe Lycett was joined by Alison Hammond, Alan Carr and Joanna Lumley on his first episode of new Channel 4 show Late Night Lycett on Friday evening. The new Birmingham-based TV show was filled with funny moments, from comedian Katherine Ryan getting stranded on a barge to Alan's hilarious one-liners. As she and Joe, 34, spoke about all things Birmingham, Alison, 48, revealed she gets free parking at the Bullring in the city centre, after meeting someone at a party who works there.

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International “Blue Jean” director Georgia Oakley has signed with CAA. The up-and-coming British filmmaker made her debut feature with the Venice-premiering “Blue Jean,” which bowed to wide acclaim on the Lido in September. Set in northeast England in the 1980s, the pic is centred on a closeted gym teacher (played by Rosy McEwen) who is forced to confront her sexuality after taking a gay student under her wing. The film tackles the Margaret Thatcher era’s controversial Section 28 law, which prohibited British schools and councils from “promoting the teaching of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship.” The law was passed in 1988 and stayed in place until 2003.

Naman Ramachandran Writer-director Jesper Ganslandt has signed with CAA for representation. Ganslandt made his debut with “Falkenberg Farewell” in 2006. The coming-of-age film followed a group of friends who grew up in the titular town of Falkenberg and spend a last summer there before moving to the big city. The film debuted at Venice and had a stellar festival run including Toronto, Reykjavik, Tallinn Black Nights and Goteborg. It was nominated for the Nordic Council’s Film Prize, chosen as Sweden’s submission for the Academy Awards, and was nominated in several categories at the Guldbagge Awards in 2007, including best film, best direction and best screenplay. It won the FIPRESCI Award at the IndieLisboa International Independent Film Festival.

Newly-single Alison Hammond beamed as she walked the red carpet at the Burberry British Diversity Awards, where she picked up the Media Champion in the Public Eye award.The TV presenter, 48, was handed the award by Paloma Faith during the prestigious event, which was hosted by TV presenter June Sarpong. Posing on the red carpet before heading into the event Alison was all-smiles as she donned a sparkling black midi dress and a pair of flat back and white shoes, which featured a stylish black bow.

Richard Kuipers The third feature directed by Vietnamese superstar Ngo Thanh Van — better known to western audiences as actor Veronica Ngo in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “The Old Guard” — lives up to its title with a furious display of female revenge set in the seedy streets of late-’90s Ho Chi Minh City. Despite a routine plot and some abrasive tonal shifts, this tale of a motherly mentor turning three damaged young women into deadly assassins is packed with exciting action and boasts fine performances from four killers bound by blood, bullets and all manner of deadly weapons. Following a series of rowdy screenings in SXSW’s Midnighters section, “Furies” will stream worldwide as the first Vietnamese Netflix original feature on March 23.   

Joe Otterson TV Reporter HBO Max is developing a drama series based on the life of Heidi Fleiss, Variety has learned exclusively. The untitled series hails from writer and executive producer Maggie Cohn, who most recently served as the co-showrunner on HBO Max’s critically acclaimed limited series “The Staircase.” Fleiss will serve as a consultant on the project. Emma Tillinger Koskoff (“Joker,” The Irishman”) of First Love Films will also executive produce, along with Alex Goldstone (“Dickinson”) for Anonymous Content, Bill Gerber (“Muhammed Ali,” “A Star Is Born”) of Gerber Pictures, and David Bernon, Paul Bernon, and Sam Slater of Burn Later Productions (“Support the Girls,” “Mile 22,” “Drinking Buddies”).

BreAnna Bell Kamie Crawford has signed with CAA for representation. She continues to be represented by Range Media Partners and Brecheen, Feldman, Breimer, Silver, and Thompson. Perhaps most known for her role as a host on MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show” (which she’s hosted since 2018), Crawford recently inked an overall deal with MTV Entertainment Studios in January and has since been named as the host of Paramount+’s “Are You The One?” and MTV’s “Ex on the Beach.” The former series, which ran for 8 seasons on MTV before jumping to the streamer, returned after three years off the air in January. She also hosted HBO Max’s “Sweet Life: Los Angeles” reunion special.

Anne Hathaway (Eileen) has signed on to star in a mysterious new film that David Robert Mitchell (It Follows, Under the Silver Lake) will direct for Warner Bros. Pictures, Bad Robot and Jackson Pictures.

Angelique Jackson CAA has signed rising British star Rosy McEwen.  The actor, who was not previously represented in the U.S., will be represented by the agency in all areas.  McEwen will next be seen opposite Julia Garner in Paramount Players’ “Apartment 7A.” The mysterious new psychological thriller, which is speculated to be connected to “Rosemary’s Baby,” is produced by John Krasinski and Allyson Seeger (for Sunday Night), along with Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller (through Platinum Dunes). The project is directed by Natalie Erika James. She is best known for playing Libby Hatch in “The Alienist.” The TNT limited series, which is based on the best-selling novel by Caleb Carr and starred Dakota Fanning, Daniel Brühl and Luke Evans.

BreAnna Bell Jerah Milligan has signed with CAA for representation. A multi-hyphenate creative artist, Milligan co-created and starred in Netflix’s “Astronomy Club,” which was executive produced by Kenya Barris and Dan Powell, and co-wrote, executive produced, and starred in an original presentation of “Sherlock Homies” for HBO Max. As a director, he recently directed the sketch segments of Yvonne Orji’s latest HBO Special “A Whole Me.” Milligan’s short film “Mahogany Drive,” which he directed and co-wrote, was recently screened at the Slamdance Film Festival. His additional directing credits include Showtime’s “Desus & Mero” and MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out.” Milligan is a product of Viacom’s Viewfinder: Emerging Directors Program.

Quite a bit has come out, so here’s what you need to know: At the end of February, Dominion docs revealed that several Fox hosts, including Ingraham and Hannity, were privately bashing election deniers that were being brought on their shows in 2020.Among the messages: “Sidney Powell is lying,” sent from Tucker Carlson to his producer Alex Pfeiffer on Nov.

CAA is kicking off Oscars weekend with a star-studded-party!

Angelique Jackson Emma D’Arcy, star of HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” has signed with CAA for representation. D’Arcy stars in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series as Rhaenyra Targaryen, the firstborn child of the king and his heir apparent. The show follows the events leading to the war of succession, known as the “Dance of the Dragons,” which begins the fall of House Targaryen. “House of the Dragon” has been a massive success for HBO, with 9.3 million viewers watching the Season 1 finale, marking the network’s biggest audience since “Game of Thrones.” The series has also garnered critical acclaim, winning best drama series at the 2023 Golden Globes. For their commanding performance, D’Arcy was singled out with a nomination for best actress in a drama series. According to HBO and HBO Max content CEO Casey Bloys, Season 2 is expected in 2024.

Coronation Street star Alison King, who plays Carla Connor on the long-running soap, celebrated her 50th birthday in style. Alison's co-star, Samia Longchambon who plays Carla's former sister-in-law Maria Connor, took to Instagram to share a snap of the star-studded celebrations.The photo saw Samia and Alison posing alongside Julia Goulding, Jane Danson, Tina O'Brien and Georgia Taylor. Captioning the glam pic Samia wrote: "Celebrated our awesome Ali Kings’ birthday with these queens last night #birthdaygirl #friends." Fans of the actresses were quick to comment on the snap, with many wishing Alison a happy birthday.
