Barry Keoghan’s Oscar experience didn't get off to the best start as the airline he was flying with lost his suitcase containing ‘sentimental’ items he had packed for the glittering awards.
The Irish actor, who lives in Dundee, launched a scathing rant on social media aimed at British Airways for its ‘bad customer service’ after losing his belongings en route to Los Angeles, writes The Irish Mirror.
Barry said that he had brought ‘tons of sentimental stuff’ for the event on Sunday and said the airline could not ‘seem to be helpful in one bit’.
Keoghan flew out to the states for the 95th Academy awards as he is nominated for the best-supporting actor for his role in the dark Irish comedy The Banshees Of Inisherin.
The star took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his anger. He penned: “Lost my suitcase with @British_Airways and they can’t seem to be any way helpful in one bit.
“Here In LA for the Oscars and had tons of sentimental stuff I wanted to wear and bring with me. Such bad customer service. Sent me to LAX to tell me they can’t help me. Tut tut.”
British Airways responded to his tweet with an automated message which read: "We're sorry to hear what happened. Please send us your WorldTracer bag reference number via DM along with as much information as possible so we can take a closer look. We may need to ask you a few more questions for data protection."
Keoghan’s best-supporting actor nod is his first Oscar nomination and will see him go head-to-head with Banshees co-star Brendan Gleeson in the category.
He previously won the Bafta for best supporting actor for his performance in the film, in which he plays the dim-witted Dominic Kearney.

The cast of “Gladiator 2” just got a huge new name.
What casting news could top Barry Keoghan joining fellow Irish actor Paul Mescal in Ridley Scott‘s upcoming “Gladiator 2“? Deadline has the answer. Denzel Washington is in final talks to co-star in the sequel.
Angelique Jackson Denzel Washington is in final negotiations to join Ridley Scott’s upcoming “Gladiator” sequel, reteaming after 2007’s “American Gangster.” If the deal closes, the two-time Academy Award winner would join newly minted Oscar nominees Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan, whose participation in the project broke Thursday. The sequel follows 2000’s blockbuster hit “Gladiator,” which was nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won five, including best picture. It earned $460 million at the box office, and now Scott is returning to direct and produce the sequel. The original “Gladiator” starred Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius, a Roman soldier forced into slavery who vows revenge against Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix. Since Maximus dies at the end of “Gladiator,” Mescal will play Lucius, the son of Maximus’ lover Lucilla (played by Connie Nielsen), in the sequel. Keoghan is in negotiations to play Emperor Geta.
It’s been over 20 years since Ridley Scott rocked the period action film genre with his beloved “Gladiator,” eventually earning Best Picture and Best Actor wins at the Academy Awards in 2001. A long-gestating sequel is finally going in front of cameras this summer, with recent Oscar-nominee Paul Mescal (“Aftersun“) taking the lead role and Scott returning to the director’s chair.

The Weeknd is turning his talents towards the world of film.
Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye is making his feature acting debut!
The Weeknd is quickly positioning himself as a rising media mogul. Still fresh off producing and co-wiring a new TV series that he'll star in later this year, the singer has followed the exact same blueprint for the big screen. The «Earned It» singer is set to star in his own yet-to-be-named film, which he also co-wrote (alongside Reza Fahim and Trey Edward Shults) and produced.
It appears the acting bug has bitten The Weeknd quite hard. Not only is he co-starring in the upcoming HBO series, “The Idol,” which is set to debut later this year, but apparently, he’s been secretly cooking up his feature film debut with director Trey Edward Shults in an untitled film.
Brent Lang Executive Editor Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye will have his first starring role in a feature film that he wrote and is also producing. The picture, which is currently untitled and has been kept shrouded in mystery regarding its plot, genre and the like is being directed by Trey Edward Shults, the filmmaker behind “Waves” and “It Comes at Night.” Shults also co-wrote the movie and is executive producing it. We do know that it is shooting in Los Angeles, but aside from that the “logline is being kept under wraps.” Whether comedy or tragedy, action adventure or musical extravaganza, this impressively vague feature has lined up a top shelf cast. Beyond The Weeknd, a Grammy-winning recording juggernaut, the film also stars Jenna Ortega, the star of “Wednesday” and “Scream VI,” as well as Barry Keoghan, the Oscar-nominated actor from “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.”
