2023 is here, and the new movies coming to a theater (and/or streaming service) near you are legion. Franchise sequels like “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “Fast X” promise to light up the box office; Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan go head-to-head with “Barbie” vs.
“Oppenheimer” this June; and “Dune Part II” and a new “Hunger Games” movie bring some serious heat to November.And that’s barely scratching the surface. Below we’ve got a complete list of 2023 movie release dates, including both streaming and theatrical titles. We haven’t included anything that doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but rest assured Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” and David Fincher’s “The Killer” are coming.Jan.

Well, “Ted Lasso” fans, the wait is over: the beloved Apple TV+ series returns for Season 3 this spring. But that’s not the only show premiering on the streamer in the next few months.
You know it was bound to happen, as nearly every major musical artist of the past 50 years gets a biopic at some point, but it appears that Michael Jackson is next up to get the big-screen treatment. But maybe more interesting than the fact that Jackson’s life and career will be highlighted in a new film is the fact that acclaimed filmmaker Antoine Fuqua is on board to direct.
Earlier today, Netflix unveiled its teaser trailer for all of the major film releases the streamer will debut in 2023. Yes, there were the usual suspects, folks like Kevin Hart, Adam Sandler, and Chris Hemsworth all have new projects coming to Netflix, per usual.
Netflix offered a first look at its 2023 slate of films on Wednesday, including a brand new thriller from David Fincher, a sci-fi epic from Zack Snyder, Chris Hemworth’s “Extraction” sequel, a Jennifer Lopez survival movie and an Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy.Hemsworth will return in “Extraction 2” this summer on June 16, with Sam Hargrave back in the director’s chair for another action-fueled adventure.Fincher’s “The Killer” – which reunites the filmmaker with his “Seven” screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker for a serial killer tale starring Michael Fassbender – won’t arrive until Nov. 10, so Fincher fans have awhile to wait.Ditto Zack Snyder’s next film, “Rebel Moon.” That project is a two-part space epic, with the first installment set as Netflix’s big holiday season release on Dec.
BFI Distribution has picked up the well-received Irish drama God’s Creatures for theatrical release in the UK. The deal also includes a partnership with independent Irish distributor Volta Pictures, who have acquired the film for Ireland.
It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like China’s unofficial ban on Marvel is lifting. Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania have both secured release dates in China, ending a three-and-a-half year period during which movies featuring Marvel characters did not gain entry to the world’s second largest box office market. Marvel posted the news to its Weibo account, check out the new Chinese posters for each film below.

Leslie Grace is giving us a look at the Batgirl costume that might have been. In a look-back end-of-year video posted on Instagram, Grace, who would have starred in the titular role in the HBO Max film, has shared some behind-the-scenes photos and clips during filming of Batgirl, which was permanently shelved by Warner Bros. and DC Films earlier this year.
